Mate is one product with one subscription, but the free tier differs by platform. Here is the current picture.
Mac, iPhone and iPad
Pro includes:
- Unlimited translations with all three styles: Basic, Advanced and AI, with the formality control.
- Speak to translate: voice input.
- Offline translation.
- Camera translation on iPhone.
- Phrasebook, and sync of History and Phrasebook across devices.
Without Pro you can use the app during the free trial, and afterwards with a limited number of free translations, depending on the plan currently offered in the app. The app shows the remaining count in its settings ("Free Translations" or "Today's Translations"). Some features may show Included in Mate Pro on the free plan.
Browser extension
Free, forever:
- Translations in the popup, the on-page tooltip, the floating button, one Shift+T shortcut, the right-click item and manual full-page translation.
- Three synonyms per translation.
- Local History and Phrasebook.
- Netflix subtitle translation (click to translate).
Pro adds:
- Phonetic transcription and noun genders.
- Voice input in the popup (Chrome).
- Automatic page translation ("Always translate French to English").
- Sync of History and Phrasebook with your other devices.
- CSV export.
- Extra Shift+T combinations for several target languages, a resizable tooltip, an unpinned popup window, and saving words from Netflix.
- Email support.
