Telegram has a built-in translate button, but it's limited to a short list of languages and translates one message at a time. Mate adds 200+ languages, pronunciation, and translations of what you write.
iPhone and iPad
- iOS 18.4 and later: press and hold a message, choose Select, select the text and tap Translate. Mate opens when it's set as the default translator.
- Any iOS version: press and hold the message, Copy, then press and hold Mate's icon on the Home Screen and tap Paste and Translate.
Mac
In the Telegram app, select the message text, right-click, and choose Services › Translate with Mate Translate. Or copy it and press Option+Shift+T with Auto-translate clipboard enabled in Mate's Settings › General.
Telegram Web
With the Mate extension in Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Opera, select the text and click the floating button or press Shift+T. Channels with long posts are where this shines: select the whole post and translate it in place.
Replying
Write in Mate, copy the translation and paste it into Telegram. On iOS 18.4+, type in Telegram, select it, tap Translate, and use Replace selected text. Set Mate's tone to Informal for chats.
