Mate for Mac works inside every mail client. No copying into a browser tab.
Right-click › Services
- Select the text in the email, or press Cmd+A inside the message to select all of it.
- Right-click the selection and choose Services › Translate with Mate Translate.
- Mate opens with the translation.
This works in Apple Mail, Spark, Mimestream, Airmail and other native clients. Give the Services item a keyboard shortcut in System Settings › Keyboard › Keyboard Shortcuts › Services, and it becomes a single keystroke.
Outlook and other apps without the Services item
Some clients replace the context menu. Turn on Auto-translate clipboard in Mate's Settings › General, then select the text, press Cmd+C and Option+Shift+T. Mate opens with the clipboard translated. This works everywhere.
Writing a reply
Type your reply in Mate in your own language, pick the Advanced or AI style, and set Formality to Formal for business correspondence. Turn on Automatically copy translation in Settings › General and the translation is ready to paste with Cmd+V. See Formal or informal: setting the tone.
Webmail
Gmail, Outlook.com and iCloud Mail in Safari get the floating button from Mate's Safari extension: see Translate emails in Gmail.
