Translate in Notion, Google Docs and other web editors

In the browser: select the text and click the floating Mate button, or press Shift+T, with the Mate extension in Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Opera, or the Safari extension on Mac. Whole-page translation is switched off on notion.so because replacing the text would break the editor; selection translation works everywhere in Notion.

Notion app on Mac: the app doesn't show the macOS Services menu. Turn on Auto-translate clipboard in Mate's Settings › General, then select, Cmd+C, Option+Shift+T.

Notion on iPhone: select the text and tap Translate (iOS 18.4+, with Mate as the default translator) or Share › Translate with Mate.

Google Docs

Google Docs draws the document on a canvas rather than as normal web text, so the floating button and Shift+T don't see the selection reliably. Two routes that always work:

• Select the text, copy it, and paste into the Mate popup (click the Mate icon in the toolbar). Or, on Mac, Cmd+C and then Option+Shift+T with Auto-translate clipboard on.
• For a whole document, use Docs' own Tools › Translate document, then use Mate for the sentences that came out oddly.

Google Sheets, Airtable, Coda, Confluence, Jira

Same pattern. If selecting text shows the floating button, use it. If not, copy and paste into Mate, or copy and press Option+Shift+T on Mac.

Writing in another language

Draft in your language in Mate, choose the Advanced or AI style and the right tone, and paste the result into the editor. On Mac, Automatically copy translation in Settings › General saves the copy step.
