Export your History and Phrasebook to a CSV file

Mate's browser extension can export your translation history and your Phrasebook as CSV files, which open in Excel, Numbers, Google Sheets, or flashcard apps such as Anki. Export is a Mate Pro feature.

Export the history

1. Click the Mate icon in the toolbar and open History.
2. Use the export button on the History page. Mate downloads a .csv file.

The file has these columns: INPUT, TRANSLATION, TRANSLITERATION, SYNONYMS, FROM LANGUAGE, INTO LANGUAGE, TIME/DATE, WHERE TRANSLATED.

Export the Phrasebook

1. Open Phrasebook from the popup.
2. Open the word list you want and use its export button. Each list exports separately, with the same columns.

Import into Anki or Quizlet

Both accept CSV. Map INPUT to the front of the card and TRANSLATION to the back, and ignore the other columns. If your spreadsheet app shows everything in one column, tell it the separator is a comma and the encoding is UTF-8.

On Mac and iPhone

The Mac and iOS apps don't have a CSV export yet. If you use Mate Pro with sync switched on, your History and Phrasebook from those apps are synced to the extension, so you can export them from there.
